About Approved Organizations
What is Approved Organizations?
Approved Organizations are defined in Article 20 of the Civil Aeronautics Act as a organization that can conduct part or all of the government’s inspections on behalf of the government regarding the design, manufacturing process, and current status of the airworthiness of aircraft and equipment.
In order for an organization to be approved, it must be certified by the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism that its capabilities in one or two or more of the following operations conform to the technical standards specified by an ordinance of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
1．Capabilities to design aircraft and inspect the completed design (Article 20, paragraph(1), item (ⅰ) of the Act)
2．Capabilities to manufacture aircraft and inspect the completed aircraft (Article 20, paragraph(1), item (ⅱ) of the Act)
3．Capabilities to perform maintenance on aircraft and inspect the performed maintenance (Article 20, paragraph(1), item (ⅲ) of the Act)
4．Capabilities to perform maintenance or alteration on aircraft (Article 20, paragraph(1), item (ⅳ) of the Act)
5．Capabilities to design components and inspect the completed design (Article 20, paragraph(1), item (ⅴ) of the Act)
6．Capabilities to manufacture components and inspect completed components (Article 20, paragraph(1), item (ⅵ) of the Act)
7．Capabilities to perform repair or alteration on components (Article 20, paragraph(1), item (ⅶ) of the Act)
Type of Approved Organizations
・Approved Design Organization for Aircraft/Aircraft parts (ADO)
・Approved Production Organization for Aircraft / Aircraft parts (APO)
・Approved Maintenance Organization for Aircraft / Aircraft parts (AMO)
・Approved Maintenance Inspection Organization for Aircraft (AMIO)
